Collection contains records of early colonial Quaker organizations, including meeting minutes from Friends groups in Haverford, Radnor, and Philadelphia, PA, as well as Burlington, NJ. Also included is a letter from William Penn, London, 1708, in which he mentions his meeting with the Queen and Governor Gookins departure for America. Several documents record the development of the Philadelphia Marsh by the Managers of Wiccacoa Meadow Company, 1738-1804. The collection contains letters to Job Roberts from Charles Willson Peale and Rubens Peale, 1806, as well as other personal and business papers, travel diaries, and printed materials. There are also papers relating to the drug and paint business begun by Samuel Wetherill and carried on by his descendants.

Samuel Wetherill, a Philadelphia manufacturer of cloth, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals, was a birthright Quaker. During the American Revolution, he actively supported the military effort and was disowned from Philadelphia Monthly Meeting in 1779.
